1st European LGBTQIA+ NA Convention
In August 2021, a group of NA members, supported by local Group Service Representatives, came together to establish an LGBTQIA+ subcommittee within the Central Paris Area of Narcotics Anonymous. Three months later, this collective effort resulted in the organization of the first-ever LGBTQIA+ convention in the French region, bringing addicts together from all over the country. This event marked the beginning of a service journey that, over the next three years, included four successful conventions, a Hopital&Institution meeting, and numerous Public Information initiatives.
Last year, these efforts culminated in the passing of a motion to create an LGBTQIA+ committee to serve the whole French region, with the purpose of carrying the message of Narcotics Anonymous to the LGBTQIA+ addict who still suffers, and of helping them, inclusive of all addicts, feel part of our life-saving fellowship.
Now, for its fifth edition, the French LGBTQIA+ convention is expanding its reach to a European scale. This year, from the 27th to the 29th of June 2025, it invites addicts from across the globe to join in celebrating both the unity and the diversity of our beautiful fellowship.

The booklet will contain personal stories from LGBTQIA+ members of Narcotics Anonymous. Although their stories are different, they have one thing in common: They convey the hope of recovery for people who think they have a drug problem and cannot stop using on their own. The message we want to communicate is that any addict, can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use, and find a new way to live. Also, that one addict can best understand and help another addict to recover from addiction.
“Narcotics Anonymous offers hope to addicts around the world, regardless of any real or imagined differences that might separate us.”

Share Your Story!
If you would like to share your experience, strength, and hope with the fellowship in the form of your personal experiences as an LGBTQIA+ member, we cordially invite you to write and submit your story.
Manuscript Format
- Write in the language you use, not in the voice you imagine an “author” should have. You are writing about what you have been through. Make it as important for your reader as it was for you. Make it stand out. Make it live.
- We suggest sharing from the “I” perspective (personal experience), f.e. where you come from, how you found your way to NA, challenges and experiences that accompanied your recovery.
- Keep in mind that each story should contain approximately 800 words. This may help you consider how and what to write.
- Deadline will be mid-February 2025.
- Submit your manuscript to: fd@edmna.org
Editing Process
All manuscripts go through a review and editing process. We look for a tone that reflects a spirit of unity and mutual respect. We make other edits in keeping with NA’s understanding of the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, using standard NA language such as “clean,” “recovery,” and “addict.” In addition, submissions are copyedited to ensure ease of comprehension and adherence to the rules of English grammar, i.e., we will review and revise sentence structure, spelling, punctuation, etc. Editorial staff may also substitute different words for clarification, but the content and the author’s intentions are retained in the copyediting process. We do our very best to maintain the tone and voice of the author. Authors’ names are printed using the first name and last initial unless the author asks to be identified as “Anonymous.”
